Edward Weston

Edward Weston (1886 – 1958) loved cats. He loved photographing them, he loved being photographed with them.

Growing up in Carmel, California, my husband, Don, remembers getting several kittens from Edward Weston, who lived in the Carmel Highlands.

Is that true! Wow! I love your cat stories. Was he as cat friendly as the rumour says?

Don said Edward Weston was definitely as cat friendly as roumour says–his place was always overflowing with them. He particularly remembers one of the cats that looked a lot like the cat draped around Edward Weston’s shoulder in the colored photo above. This cat used to ride in his shoulder while he rode his bike around their 5 acre s in the Carmel Valley.

Hahaha oh that is so cute! And what a photo it would have been of EW and the cat. What did he name them? Any themes? Like Hemingway I mean.

One of his cats is on top of this post and you may have seen occasional cat photos I might have included in a post featuring Sotheby’s photo auctions.
